Does everyone get “lei’d” at the airport upon arriving in Hawaii?
hope asked:
My hubby & I are wondering if everyone gets a lei when they arrive at any Hawaii airport? Or is it only when you get to your hotel? We are thinking of staying in a condo and don’t want to miss out on the lei experience!

Usually, when you book a specific hotel, they have a car waiting for you in the hotel, and then the driver “lei’s” you.
But if you’re going by yourself to, say a friend’s house, then you won’t get “lei’d”.
If you’re in a tour of Hawaii, they often also give leis out.

i think its only if you have a tour group or travel agency meeting you at the airport, bc that is who lei’d my family. it isnt airport personnel.

No you don’t receive a lei upon arrival unless you have someone expecting you. My husband and I moved HI and our sponsor that picked us up gave us wet lei’s as they are called. Our sponsor was responsible for showing us around the island and getting us set up in a hotel.

Unfortunately, no they don’t. BUT there are quite a few things that DO lei you when you get there or do them. Luau’s for example have the dancers passing out leis and lei-ing people. If you go to Hilo Hatties, when you walk in the door there is usually someone waiting to lei you. Don’t worry about missing out, I’m sure you’ll inadvertently walk into something and SURPRISE!

You pay to get lei’d!
Usually a package deal!
